Kevin Dowty was ready to kick off the first week of summer vacation with his wife and kids at the Lake of the Ozarks. Kevin’s brother and his family were coming down from Chicago, and Kevin was determined to make the most of their time together by allowing everyone to experience the lake as it should be experienced – by boat. Specifically, Kevin’s red-and-white pontoon boat that he lovingly scrubbed down the night before the trip.

Kevin planned to give everyone a tour of the lake on their first day together. The adults squeezed the kids and coolers onto the boat and smiled as the girls squealed when the motor started up. As the boys shouted and hooted over the water, Kevin started to show off a little. He wishes now that he hadn’t. Kevin skirted too close to shore and hit bottom. In one second his entire motor was
ripped off and shredded.
