2005 Freightliner M2 – Heavy Duty Semi Truck Inspection – Springfield Illinois
This truck is in good shape for its age and mileage with only a few things that need to be addressed. Some average oil leaks from steering gear box, oil pan, & turbo oil feed line. The suspension is in average condition and needing some attention to the LF kingpins. The air brake & air ride system holds good pressure and builds new pressure quickly and purges at correct timing. The engine starts quickly, free of abnormal smoking and has great power, the transmission has a strong clutch, good free-play and good shifting. The drive line is tight as it should be, the u-joints are well lubed and free of play as well as the carrier bearing. The intermediate axle has a minor input seal leak that is making the front of the pumpkin housing damp and the rear is dry. All wheel seals are in good condition and free of leaks. Tires all have good high rubber but the casing are showing their ages except for the front which are virgin rubber as they should be. The frame is in great condition, free of cracks, welds or major rust. The fifth wheel is well lubed and the air slider mechanism works well. All lights were functioning at the time of inspection.
The trailer emergency supply line is cracked and will require replacement and the service side is fine. The vehicle was test driven for 15 miles and it performed great. HVAC system needs some attention as the condenser is bent outward and the HVAC fan does not blow very hard through vents.
